A while back i was invited to take part in an exhibition and publication of artists books dealing with political and social commentary. Well it has finally rolled around. The exhibition is a combination of artist’s book from the Monash University Rare Books Collection and Monica Oppen’s archive based in Sydney, the Bibliotheca Librorum apud Artificern. It is on at Monash Uni’s Clayton Campus(Wellington Rd), lvl 1 ISB Wing – Sir Lewis Matherson Library from 28 Sept – 25 Nov 2011. There are some really cool books on show so get on down to check out the show!

Below: My zines on show in the cabinet, some blow ups of individual pages mounted on the wall and the catalogue/flyer.

And below is the book, ‘A Silent Scream – Political and Social comment in books by artists’. It is a very beautiful publication and the company i’m sharing it with are outstanding. I’m not sure about distrobution, but going to http://www.bibliotheca.org.au and enquiring you will be able to get your hands on a copy. ($39.95 RRP + postage).

So life is good right now, currently working on a large format commission, a fresh publication and exhibition…and i have just had two weeks holiday.

Peace out!

Well, I was pretty excited recently when I picked up a copy of Imprint, an Australian printmaking magazine to find an advert for the exihition The Silent Scream, the political and social comment in books by artists exhibition that I have a few zines in later this year. It’s kinda humbling to see your name in the company of Norman Lindsay, George Grosz and Gerhard Richter to name just a few.

So if your in Melbourne between the 26th September and 25th November …and artist’s books with social comments are your thing, get on over to the Sir Louis Matheson Library at the clayton campus of Monash University to have a look at the exhibition.

I just recieved news confirming that i have my artist books/zines being included in an exhibition this September at Monash University in Melbourne. The exhibition and and the accompanying publication is going to be called, The Silent Scream: political and social comment in books by artists. The exhibition is a joint project between Monash University Rare Books Library (http://www.lib.monash.edu.au/rare/) and the Bibliotheca Librorum apud Artificem (http://www.bibliotheca.org.au) a private collection of precious books based in New South Wales by Monica Oppen.

It’s pretty exciting news, and it feels good to have the books considered within a conceptual context…so stay tuned for further information later in the year.

ps- Below is my latest artist book just out.
