These little stencils of mine have started popping up around Melb. this week…

…and a couple of overview shots in situ.

I think the end is near for the old cathode rays also…

A night on the town…

If you haven’t already heard the buzz new york based street art star Swoon is in Melbourne for an exhibition at Metro Gallery. I was lucky enough to meet her this week and got to go on a little run around melb on thursday night with her and a few others.

No Frills Toxic Mickey meet Swoon – Hosier Lane

This one above was the first one i came across before i got to meet her. Looks like Mickey has seen better days!

Swoon unrolling the goodness…massive woodcuts with intricate handcut backgrounds designed to really make the pieces become one with the environment.

Getting messy wheatpaste style.

On the wall…AC/DC lane Melbourne

There were a few people getting up or helping out including HAHA, Vexta, Drab, Junky and Tonez.

HAHA getting down with the wheatpaste.

Drab doing what he does so well – Tatterstalls Lane

And finally a small one of mine going up in AC/DC  lane…

Thanks Ms Tonez for the above pic.

Subtle Stealth Bomber pasted to the wall.

All up it was a really good session, Swoon was really nice btw…and we all got to change the walls of melbourne for a little while. And if your in melbs drop in to Until Never Gallery and see Shida’s first Melb Exhibition…it is awesome and well worth visiting.

Until next time….enjoy!

Here are my new paintings based on my ‘Terrorists often wear suits’ image that just recently went up in Rutledge/Hosier Lane. Today about a dozen or so artists hit up the back section of Hosier lane in Melbourne to do a wall in protest of the BP oil spill. There were some of the familiar suspects from the scene including HaHa, Civil and Mags(from brisvegas) among others. It was a pretty cool day with everyone helping each other out and working well together to link in a whole bunch of diverse styles and create a bit of unity surrounding this important issue.

Below the hive of activity:

I think this piece was my favorite for the day. It kind of sumed up the overall message in a light hearted way. I have a few process shots so you can see it coming together.

This work was also pretty rocking, and a massive stencil  The text is a little burried in the image but it says ‘ Cars suck ‘, and hopefully it works on a subliminal level. Bikes rule!

Here are a bunch of other shots of the work getting made.

below are a couple of stencils by HAHA:

The crew were still going when i left for the day…so get on down there if you are in the neighbourhood, as its well worth a look at the wall. Those of you who follow my tees may be familiar with these little images. 😉

and this one…

We also helped put up a set of the new Breakdown Press Peace Posters. These are also floating about in Melb for free, so keep your eyes peeled as they are well worth a look.
