Today about a dozen or so artists hit up the back section of Hosier lane in Melbourne to do a wall in protest of the BP oil spill. There were some of the familiar suspects from the scene including HaHa, Civil and Mags(from brisvegas) among others. It was a pretty cool day with everyone helping each other out and working well together to link in a whole bunch of diverse styles and create a bit of unity surrounding this important issue.

Below the hive of activity:

I think this piece was my favorite for the day. It kind of sumed up the overall message in a light hearted way. I have a few process shots so you can see it coming together.

This work was also pretty rocking, and a massive stencil  The text is a little burried in the image but it says ‘ Cars suck ‘, and hopefully it works on a subliminal level. Bikes rule!

Here are a bunch of other shots of the work getting made.

below are a couple of stencils by HAHA:

The crew were still going when i left for the day…so get on down there if you are in the neighbourhood, as its well worth a look at the wall. Those of you who follow my tees may be familiar with these little images. 😉

and this one…

We also helped put up a set of the new Breakdown Press Peace Posters. These are also floating about in Melb for free, so keep your eyes peeled as they are well worth a look.

Here are my new die cut to shape stickers that just arrived. Very happy with the results…they look sweet.

and these pamphlets are my tongue in cheek ‘Dollar a Day – Change an Artists life’ brochures. These will be out and about in the public sphere soon.  Although, they may end up in black and white on coloured stock to make them viable as freebies and viable for my hip pocket. So if your looking for a laugh, keep your eyes peeled…

and finally a little stencil of my local just for fun. Enjoy!

My latest statement on BP and their mess. The mess that could have be avoided if the bottom line was not more important than environmental safety. Although, BP are not alone. Thousands of oil spills happen every year and most get little or no media coverage yet do untold damage. Its time to change and move toward the more sustainable and safe alternatives that have been developed such as solar, wind and hydro to name a few.

Stay tuned to see more of this guy!

If you go for a wander down Hosier Lane in Melbourne at the moment you may stumble on the new Obey piece to go with the exhibition of his prints upstairs at Until Never Gallery.

and here is another section…

Methinks it looks pretty sweet. Get there before it gets burried in tags. There were a few pieces in the Citylights lightboxes also.

I also stumbled across one of my old stickers.

And this cool David Bowie dog sitting in a classic old car.

A couple of new designs to express my dismay for BP’s oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. This is a terrible disaster! Considering we have the means now to move away from our fossil fuels, and the fact this is going to have a long term impact on the sea life in the area(and a large surrounding area), water quality and beaches and even the people who live off the sea in the area. If you agree with these sentiments, join me in expressing it on your chest…and make sound energy choices to start moving towards a more sustainable future.

About a month or so back, Blek was in Old Melbourne town for an exhibition. I’m pretty sure this is a street piece he left behind as a gift to adourn the walls of melbourne (In Hosier Lane). The Ned Kelly stencils on the left are by Ha Ha. For the same medium, its quite a contrast of styles! Anywho, just something i came across in my wanderings.

For those who don’t know Blek le Rat, he was doing stencils before Banksy.

Here is some cool footage from redbubble’s Mr Baxter of the digital printer/production floor and one of my Raven tees being  manufactured. The design is obviously inspired by the Edgar Allan Poe poem of the same name…and if you didn’t know already Ravens are the new image of choice for your tee in 2010.

BTW, this is the first ever RB back print. Enjoy!

Special Thanks to Mr Baxter for this vid.

Here is my new Generic Engineering (Custom Zebra) T-Shirt that i just got back this week. If i do say so myself it looks stunning in the flesh and I can tell it will both turn heads and start conversations. Big props to Redbubble for their quality products as this is as good as any tee i have owned. And the turn around time was only about a week so I couldn’t ask for anything more really.

Just picked up a copy of the latest issue of Nett Magazine. It has an article on co-founder of the Redbubble site Martin Hosking. They used a few images from some of the designers off the site for the layout, which i think actually looks pretty slick for a business type magazine. I was happy to see both my Environmental Footprint and my Roadmap to Peace get an outing.

Just dropped in and saw the new Ron Mueck exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria (Melbourne). It was really quite an amazing experience, and most certainly well worth the visit if you are in town. Oversized hyperrealism sculptures are not the sort of art you get to see everyday. Catch it while its on.

T-Shirts the Old Skool way…

Here is the documentation shots from a recent workshop i was asked to do at a local community centre in my hometown. We were making T-Shirts using spray cans, stencils and markers. Overall, I think there were some excellent results and all involved had a great day.

New Book – Fast Food for Thought

My new books just arrived this week, and saw their first outing at the Festival of the Photocopier – Zine Fair. They were well recieved and a I moved a few copies which was exciting. The zine fair originally planned for the City Square was shifted underground to the Degraves Underpass on Flinders Street due to Melbournes unpredictable weather. Weather and relocating issues aside, we still saw a full house in terms of crowds which was great, and there was a really good vibe for the event.
